I'm looking at purchasing a wireless CCTV camera which can connect straight to my computer and be recorded into a video file, needs to have infra-red night vision and wireless upto at least 20 meters, possibly record sound as well, though this is that important. Will be used to record my front door and cars on the drive-way view distance needs to capture at least 20meters also. Maxium cost around £50/60

I hope your not expected anything decent?

As most Bosch security cameras that are anything decent go for hundreds of pounds.

And thats not wireless, no infra-red (etc)....

What is your budget for the accompanying signage that is required if you hope to use any evidence gathered to secure a prosecution?

Laminate + sheet of cardboard + ink usage from printer = less than a quid, probably

Is this a joke? If theres CCTV cameras up and no signs warnng of them, then any images from them can't be used in court?

Not exactly, if you are only recording your own property, things are a bit lax. But it you record a public area, you need it to be obvious. Also, even if you have signage, you need to register with the data administrator, else a clever lawyer could get any camera recordings throw out of a hearing.

Give me 30 minutes to hunt though my kit and i'll get back to you about what camera to go for. Or add me on MSN.

IIRC it is not admissable in court full stop. You will have no license and you will not have informed the information comissioner.

However...

The local plod will be more than happy to look at it to aid their investigations.

As for a £50 budget and the req you need, your best bet is eBay and something from China. Get 2.4Ghz not 1.2Ghz (as it is illegal in the UK).

You will need software | digitiser | receiver | transmitter | power points etc...

£50 is gonna be tight tho'
