Spec me a company car

I highly doubt it's a transformation though (but then the s line has never particularly bothered me in terms of firmness), all vags are getting better on the suspension front. It'll be a complete middle of the road car - which is a good thing for a co car imo, at least it'll be an up to date middle of the road car unlike the existing/departing model.

Something that might throw a spanner in the works, I may sometimes have to carry a large piece of equipment, I will also always have a large tool box and maybe some other spares.

Said large thing is 693 W x 786 D x 497 mm H (27.3 W x 30.9 D x 19.6" H)

I don't think this will fit in the CC.

Another option is have a year old BMW 318d from a guy that is leaving, I'm not sure what spec it is but it has another 2 years on the lease and I think they will be keen for me to have it.

If it's an F30, at least a year-old one will look better than a brand new one - what they've done with the lights "joining" into the grille is utterly hideous IMO.

I have some fairly limited options on my company ownership scheme but I'm going for a new Focus Titanium Estate 2.0TDCi. The estate makes more sense for me these days with the kit I like to take camping and so on. More room the better really.

I've done some serious research and I can say that for the money this is a great car. Plus I'm adding 18inch alloys, Sat nav with rear view camera, metallic paint, city kit, cruise control, mats and Titanium appearance pack for an additonal £50/month. Basically the car is about as loaded as it gets for around £450/month minus my companies' contribution which makes it a very appealing option to me. Perhaps you should consider one, especially if you need the space on occasion. It's a pretty nice looking car now I've added everything and comes loaded with every gadget and gizmo I've ever needed or been used to having in the past.

Shame you can't have a vRS diesel really. (obviously the petrol one would be preferable)

Edit: Octavia or Mondeo would be your best bet on that budget.

I've got the L & K and it has all the options your require. (Nav is an option and mine doesn't have it).

I'd have that it'd be an e90 at that age, I'd be tempted by that.

How much do each of the cars sting you for cc tax, something you've weighed up or even bothered about?

I'm not really sure tbh. It can't be any worse than running my Lexus, insurance and road tax alone are enough, not to mention it's average fuel consumption of 24mpg.

BIK percentages are:

BMW: 17%
VW: 20% (assuming the 140PS)
Audi: 17% (assuming 140PS, or 15% for new model)

Take that percentage of the list price and you basically pay income tax on that amount, so at either 20% or 40%. If the list price of the car added to your salary pushes you across the 40% threshold then the calculation gets a little more complicated but basically that's it.

It's not as bad as it used to be as petrols have become a lot more efficient regards emissions over the past few years. Diesels are still lower but also attract a 3% surcharge on the BIK rate, for the next few years at least.

Just find the CO2 emissions then have a look here to work out what the BIK percentage is: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmwcorporate/sales/commercial/tax_calculator/0,,1212___,00.html?selPage=2

EDIT: Or PMKeates' link above. Remember you take this percentage of the list price (or P11D value as it's called) of the vehicle - what you or the lease company actually pay for it after discounts etc is totally irrelevant.

Bad news, looks like they want me to have one of the cars that's already here, they can't send them back as they are under lease :(

Here is the 318d

Or a Mondeo 2.0 tdi auto estate which is next to it in the pic(grey).

I drove the BMW just down the road, I wasn't that impressed, the gear stick shakes a lot, is this normal? It didn't really feel that great.
