Gigging tomorrow night and need a little bass riff to fire off when the band gets introduced, got a few ideas myself but I love a bit of OcUK participation. Anything funky or similar is cool. It's just a thread to share your favourite bass riffs.

Fleetwood Mac - The Chain. That middle 8 bit when the bass kicks in solo, always sends the hairs up on the back of my neck. Not very good for a short solo while your being introduced i shouldnt think though.

I was going to say this too. It's absolutely excellent.

Riffs played with a pick are BANNED! :p

The old chestnut.
I only allow my bass player to play one song without a pick and thats Run To the Hills because theres no way he can do it with a pick.
I can walk in a room and immediately hear a band where the bass player uses a pick because they are usually tight and smack in time with the drummer.
Finger players are usually flying around the drummer and as soon as they use a pick for the odd song it all falls back in place again.
And yes, my bass player is really good and during rehearsals plays stuff by him out of Primus its just that our band requires a pick player.

Anyway, depending what type of band you're in I reckon For Whom The Bells Toll by Metallica should do the trick.
