My current Aiwa is over 15 years old ,great sound (won best sound awards) but the cd no longer works and its not digital radio .

My new one must have ;

digital radio (DAB)
(able to record cd to cd would be nice but not essential)
compact
good realistic sound

not sure on price but between £100-£300 I guess (clueless)

Because he wants to use DAB :rolleyes:

Don't be an idiot.

I am genuinely curious as to the specific inclusion of the DAB requirement. From what I've heard over the last few years DAB was basically a non start, sounds rubbish with terrible bitrates and compression, limited coverage, and generally one is better off with FM and a good antenna. So why would someone want it? Is there a specific thing that only DAB can provide?

DAB is outdated, rubbish quality and marginal reception in many areas BUT is the UK system hence wehave no choice for many stations unless you want to listen via web but this is not very convenient generally.

or satellite I guess. OR cable (either using FM or digital). I guess it matters if you want a station that's exclusively on DAB. Are there any DAB exclusive station?

You asked why he wanted DAB and I gave you an answer (bloody obvious but still an answer). Don't call me an idiot for responding to your question.
