Current spec is in my sig, eventually I would like to get a 2nd 4870 and I would like to keep my Q6600. Cost, doesn't really matter atm but nothing OTT.

Thanks.

Normally peeps will say X48 but as PCI-E 2.0 is here the P45 can also run 2 GPU's at 2x 8x and its fine (proven in a review last week) and common sense anyhow.

The newer X48's are DDR3 only.

I've got DDR2 ram at the moment so would like a board that can handle both DDR2 and DDR3 for when I want to upgrade eventually.

So you would say a P45 board, anyone in particular ?

Mobos that have both DDR2 and DDR3 are Mongrels IMO and crap. ;)

DDR3 is too £££ and its really only of use to I7.

I Rec Asus P45's some Rec Gigabytes.

The problem is they all have went up lots of £££ due to climate.

For customers builds this is the MIN I use : Asus P5Q-E Intel P45, if they were happy to spend more and needed the extra cooling and functions It would be : Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45.

I have what you see in my SIG, but again the price had rocketed recently.

Ok, thanks for your help. Looks like my xmas present to myself is sorted, haha.

Just a quick one, with my current Gigabyte board im getting a few problems. Sometimes it doesn't show the cpu speed on start-up and sometimes it'll reset itself, sounding a high pitched beep, then when it comes back on again the BIOS has been set to default. Any ideas ?
