i will be ordering my new system next week but still have no idea on a gpu.
the components i will be ordering will be:

1. evga z68 for the win mobo
2. 4gb red gskill ripjaw ram (upgrading to 8gb later down the line)
3. coolermaster 750w 80 plus psu
3. retail intel core i5-2500k

the system upgrade is for BF3, the monitor will be my 40inch tv for the moment 120hz 1080 x 1920
i am looking to spend £200 to £250
any sugestions will be much appreciated, thanking you in advance :)

Either a GTX 570 or 6950

If I were you, i'd get an 850w PSU. Not because you need to - but because the price difference is so small, you might aswell!s

thanks for the fast reply cleeecooo
thats the 2 gpu's i was thinking but is the some kind of guideline as to which to choose, which 1 would be better theres so many different specs which is the part i am unsure on.
and thanks for the sugestion on the psu i will have a look at that now ;)

570 is faster than a 6950 in most games. However, apparently the new ATI range is due out soon and the mid-range cards in that range are likely to beat both the 570 and the 6950.

brilliant i think the Gainward GeForce GTX 570 Phantom 1280MB is what im going to buy concidering your advice, cooling is great on the card, it will look good with the rest of my system and like you say the 570 a more powerful card than the 6950, a little over budget but will be worth it.

and kissenger thanks for the reply but ive got a lot of catching up to do on bf3, not had time to play with moving house so i cant really be waiting for the new cards :(

thanks guys :)

Don't blame you mate. I just bought a card myself even though the new ones are out soon. You can't be sure there won't be delays or that the cards won't be a disappointment. Plus a couple of months is a long time to wait to play a great game like BF3 ;)

... that is if the 570 phantom is good enough in your opinion like i say im not an expert on graphics cards lol

Phantom is a great card. The cooler is excellent for silence.

Also, consider the Gigabyte windforce cooled cards,
MSI twin frozr and ofcourse, my favourite - the EVGA DS cards :p

i no i beta tested bf3 and not played it since due to moveing, i didnt even have time to collect my pre order copy up from store so im going to buy the limited edition copy on friday, luckily i didnt pay for it online and have it delivered to my house or that would have been a loss of money

go for the phantom, it's reference design too, iirc, so you can easily watercool if you want :) not to mention it is one of the most awesome looking graphics cards :):)

the evga 570 is what i origionally wanted but i couldnt locate any that i liked in the uk and not prepared to pay the extortion of shipping and tax importing from the us :( all the ones in uk are 2nd hand and there are a lot of risks in that aswell

isnt reference design the cards you can unlock the shaders on or am i thinking of something else?

IMO, the twin frozr looks better. Also, MSI and Gigabuyte and EVGA are better brands :p
