I put it down to just simply loving nature, with that goes the need to feel part of the joy of living I guess. Best way to enjoy it is with others that share your passion.
Such a relaxing sport as well, so of course everyone gets on really well.
My dive buddies are (were) as close as family. In fact one of them became family for a while
