So im after a basic pc really, just for my parents to browse the net and run a few programs (whatever parents do!)

So im thinking an i3 system, on-board graphics, 4gb ram, 500w PSU, something like a 6gb/s Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB all housed in an Antec 300.

Now the sticking point is mobo's, ive been out the game for about a year so there's a fair bit of new stuff out.

Whats best bang for buck? Must be Intel though!

Looked at this briefly, any good?
Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

Also OS, my little sister will use Word etc and I think Power Point was another program they wanted, am I looking at Home Premium with an office add on?

Budget is as cheap as possible, £400-£500

Thanks all!!

Thanks everyone, good shout on the Intel Pentium G620, never even looked at it!!

Im at £425 with the Antec 300, prefere the looks over the Coolermasters. (Even though its not mine)

And yes ill be going with 4GB of ram, dont really see the point of building a pc with any less these days.

One problem is that mobo is out of stock, also only has 3Gb/s sata ports.

This is a little more but has 6Gb/s sata ports, worth the extra?

Got the wrong end of the stick, my bad!

Why do the spec mecanical drives at 6Gb/s then?

Anyway, that other board looks good enough (I always over spec things and spend too much) looks like im about sorted then.

Cheers

Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99

Total £278.92

The G620 is now out of stock as is the LG DVD drive, ive upgraded to the G840 for an extra £11 and went for a Sony DVD drive.

Ive also opted out of software from OcUK as you can get good deals on software for students at the moment (little sister is a student!) Ive got a copy of Vista sat here because its crap so ill install that and get an upgrade to W7 and Office Pro Plus, only £70 so thats a bargain!!

In all I dont think thats a bad system for the price!

:D
