Hi

I am buying a 24 inch monitor tomorrow.....it is predominantly for gaming and watching blueray movies...What would be a good one to get....my budget is £250 tops

I am also looking for a fast hard drive for the os....I currently run a SSD as os drive but i am going to use that just for games......budget for this is £65 tops.....any suggestions are most welcome

thx

well....bought the F3.....not installed it yet.....and I bought the dell Dell S2409W 24.....but i must say I am very disapointed.....first off I cant use the hdmi connection as the screen wont fill to 1900 x 1080......I get an inch of black around the picture........I only get full 1900 x 1080 if i connect via DVI.......I was using a Delium 26 inch monitor and wanted to come down a size....was reading all the reviews this morning and decided to get the dell to replace it....but it is no where near as good as the delium...unless I am doing something wrong....the picture quality is very poor and colours rubbish as well....text looks blurred....any ideas whats wrong with it....is there any guide for settings I could look at......is there anyone else out there with this monitor that could give some advice?

thx in advance

The contrast is only 1000:1 I would go for at least a monitor with 20000:1 and it will look much better.
The Samsung SM2433BW would be a good choice and only 12pound more.

I was going to get the samsung one but I asked at the counter which i should go for and they said definately a Dell over the samsung......feel a bit hacked off now

Are you sure it says 1900x1080? As the dell's native resolution is 1920x1080. If you are sure, then that is likely your problem.

20000:1 is dynamic Contrast (DC). For that samsung it's actual contrast is 1000:1 just like the Dell. Anyway, contrast ratio is not the way to compare monitors, the easiest way is to evaluate the panel technology - both of those monitors use TN panels. Here is a good article on panel technology if you're interested.

sorry my bad....it is 1920 x 1080.....cant think straight cos I am still trying to figure out if the settings are wrong

Like I said earlier....I can not get the picture to fill the screen using a hdmi connection....there is a 1 inch black band around the screen...you click on it to see what res it is and it says it is 1920x1080.....only when you connect with a dvi cable does it actually fill the screen correctly....any ideas?
