We've decided to spend a month touring around Europe, and need a suitable vehicle for the job. We considered renting, but for a VW camper, you're looking at about £2k to rent for a month!!

So, the new plan is to buy one for the trip, and sell it on straight afterwards. We've got around £6k to play with. Initially I was thinking of a VW Camper, however they are well pricey. (Scene tax?), and they're pretty short on luxuries.

So, the new plan is to get a van derived motorhome.

I really wanted this, however I've phoned the seller and someone's paid a deposit on it. Fingers crossed it falls through. :p

I've looked at the other ones, and the others in our price range dont seem to appeal as much. They have bigger garages, and smaller, or poorly laid out living areas. Where obviously I'd prefer it the other way round.

So, living our of a 6k vehicle for a month. Anyone got any experience of it. What would you guys recommend?

I've got a ***** bus motorhome thingy, converted from a bus. It looks a bit spazzy, but it's awesome. Loads of space, loads of light, all the 'mod-cons' and it drives easy.

Getting a van-based motorhome would be perfectly fine, it's just an issue of the layout/space offered, condition and price. A lot will be custom - like the one you're looking at there - so you just need to be aware of how it's laid out and if it suits you.

I'd prefer one without the 'garage' at the back, but that's just me. Eats loads of out the cab space, but depends how much crap you're planning on taking I guess.

Go and have a look at them and see what's out there.

Rent one, the best you can afford, its worth it.

Its the difference between a Hilrton and a Travel lodge, honestly dont scrimp.

Well, I went for a LOOONG drive today (11.5 hours!!!).

And put down a deposit on this beast.

Its not pristine, but pretty much everything works, and it will come with 12 months MOT and tax.

First job - loose the pink stripe!

As above, pics!

I like it but I dont know why... :)

I keep eye balling ebay at these kind of things for some reason... must be age

Pics of the inside? :)
I'm picking it up in 3 weeks. Didn't bother taking any pics inside today.

Here is a link to the advert. There are a few pics in there. The guy wasn't that great with ebay. They've owned it since 2001 and have replaced it with an even bigger and older one!

The only thing that doesn't work is the water heater. I'll have a tinker, and failing that fit a new one.

Got all the amenities I need to live in for a month.

Looks perfect, do what you want with it, tart it up and sell it on. Been thinking of doing something quite similar but work only allow 2 week blocks of leave at a time.
