So i have not had a new tv for a while and my old 46' sharp aquos in the living room is looking dated. Sky Q turns up today so i gues 4k should be on the required list? Tv mainly for films/light ps4 use (very light) and normal tv'ing.

Looking for 50 ideally/55inch max.

Not fussed for curvey ones but wont exclude, budget can flex but not double. 2-300 over would be ok if it makes a big difference. Its going to be wall mounted so that might need to be considered.

Very out of touch with TV's guessing with Sky Q i wont need to many "smart" featres however i would like it to be DLNA compliant so i can ditch xbmc on the pi.

Looking forward to suggestions.

Yea i know its not as slick we have it on two other tv's however for us its fine as we tend to delete stuff once its watched so only usually have 20/30 things at one point avaliable

There's compromises with the Hisense sets, they're not going to be that much cheaper and be able to do everything a set twice the price can. With high end TV's you usually get what you pay for although there are some duds that cost a fortune as well.

Tbh I didn't even know I had a geeky neighbour I can chat to about this stuff till an encounter hanging washing out. He has the Samsung js9000 and said it's stunning but give it a hdr disc and it takes it to another level

While true to an extent a bit of reverse engineering and cheap labour make this possible, check out yongnuo in the camera game

There is more info about this tv on av forums, seems to have everything I'm looking for in a 4K tv.

Yep it's top of my hit list at the moment. Also considering a Panasonic TX-50DX750B Smart 3D 4K HDR at £1099, Trusted Reviews has a very in depth review of this tv.

went to see the samsung in the flesh :D my god it looks good. Think im sold to be honest.

Im aware i wont have the source that it had but its a insight of whats to come i guess.

Second hand LG OLED 55" 910v?

Picked one up on another forum for £900, professionally calibrated and with transferable RS warranty with 5.5 years left on it. Bargain.

Just bought this Tuesday. Been wanting one for ages ever since I saw a 5* review a while ago.

It fits my needs as I need a centre stand option and some of the TV's I liked have end stands (CX802). Did a lot of reading on it and the HDR implementation on it is reportedly a bit half baked but not tried it yet. Not had much chance to watch stuff on it. I followed the avforums colour calibration and hated it. So I stuck to normal and tinkered with a few settings.

It wont upscale Sky HD as it needs a 1080p output and Sky HD is 1080i but it will upscale BT TV and thats 1080p. The ladies tennis last night looked stunning even for an upscaled 1080p image and I watched a bit of Robots on Sky Movies and the picture quality was incredible. So tonight I`m going to try 4k upscaling from my STR-DN860 amp which is meant to be better than TV upscaling. Need to try some blurays too.

So far the only slight niggle is the viewing angle. I didnt realise these were VA panels. My previous Panasonic was IPS. If you sit dead centre the colour representation is brilliant. However if you go slightly off centre the colours start to wash out. The angle is quite narrow too. Not much of a problem for us but if I`d have known about it beforehand might have changed my mind. Although the 5 year warranty is quite good.

Sorry this has turned out into a bit of a mini review.

I believe the Sky Q silver box does 1080p. Oh and I have bought the Panasonic TX-50DX700B which is almost identical to the 750B. It too is a bit half baked but I was able to get it with a 20% discount for £640 so jumped on it, too good a price to resist.
