My TP link W8910G wireless router is crap, ive tried for hours to get it to work, updated the firmware and done exactly what it says in the manual. It still wont find an ADSL connection, then I plug my origo wired router back in with the same line wire and it works straight away.

What is a good wireless ADSL router that has good range and at least one RJ45 port for connecting to a PCs ethernet port. Needs to be a plug in and follow simple instructions jobby that finds ADSL connection

Thanks

thanks. ive just been playing around again and the wireless on the TPlink works at highest signal.

The only problem is that the ADSL signal from orange is not being picked up by the router. I have tried getting into setting from the Origo wired router I have but have forgot the password. I rang orange and they gave me the username and password for PPP but there must be some other setting that its falling over on

any ideas?

If you've forgotten the PW for your router then just reset it to factory settings, should be a switch on it somewhere.

I recommend netgear ADSL router best router out there.

I now dont think its the router. My wired router works fine, its just the wireless one that i need to setup. I have tried the following settings that are on the orange website and it still doesnt work -

router settings

If you choose to use an Ethernet modem / router, the correct connection settings are:

encapsulation:

PPP over ATM

multiplexing method:

VC-Based

virtual circuit:

VPI=0
VCI=38

modulation:

Multi mode

authentication:

CHAP

MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit)

In case of problems with a third party router, change MTU to 1492 (Livebox default setting)

I dont want to buy another router and have the same problem. How come so many people have wireless if its this hard to setup, or do they get someone to come out and do it all for them?

If the problem's getting it to sync up, it's got nothing to do with the wireless. It sounds like it's broken if it won't sync with those settings.

sorted it -

my wireless router may not pick up a signal but my wired does. Simple idea I had - just plug the wireless router into a port on the wired router. This means the adsl link is going through the wired router then into the wireless and out to wireless!

anyway, back on topic

thanks but my custom wired wireless is doing the job ok now. its saved my dad £40 or £50 anyway. just need to work out how to secure it, not that it matter too much anyway
