Hello all

I’m looking for a Portable hdd for around £80 to take on my holiday so that I can back up all my videos and pictures. I’ve been looking at the Freecom Tough drive’s as the hdd is likely to be put in my suitcase out the way.

Has any one got one of these drives that they can comment on or even a different drive that I should consider?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit here but are you planning on taking a laptop too? Unless you go for one of the specific photo backup drive things (Flashtrax etc) you can't just plug the drive into a camera and copy stuff to it.

2.5" HDD based externals are pretty much of a muchness really, you can get the likes of the Freecom or the Lacie Rugged drives that claim to offer better shock resistance but at the end of the day the drives are pretty rugged anyway. Packing any drive well should be sufficient.

I’ll be using a friend’s laptop as I don’t have one. I have looked at the one touch back up type hdds but I have a dvd camcorder and it will not work with that.
Thanks for you advice I will have a closer look at some other hdd’s

I did have a look at the WD passports. I do like the design of them. I was just worried that it would get damaged in my suit case lol. Ill have to have a better read about them when I get home.
Cheers for your help.
