Hi all, currently in the process of selecting equipment for my home cinema and need specific advice around picking the correct projector to meet my needs as well as working with the space I have. Budget around £800.

Details about the room build are here:

A friend recommended taking a look at WhatHiFi and see what won the award in my budget range which lead me to the BenQ W1080ST+.

The wall to be projected on will be 320cm wide and 200cm high. Its roughly 420-430cm from the front of the projector to this wall, projector to be mounted on the ceiling at the opposite end of the room.

I will be connecting it to an AV receiver taking input from a blueray player, xbox one and Sky Q at 1080p. 3D functionality would be a nice feature. to be used for Movies and Gaming.

Am I heading in the right direction with the BenQ?

Have you marked out the PJ screen size on the wall then sat down to see if it offers comfortable viewing? You want everything easily within view. I've been to friends houses where they've gone real big,on the screen at a relatively short viewing distance and you have to turn you head to follow the film. That is bad, you don't want that.

Isn't the tw6100 quite an old model now?

Most decent projectors are a few years old now. The Panasonic PTAT6000E has been best for a long while.

I'm so tempted to buy a projector again but I think I might wait out for 4k ones at a fairer price.
