If you have any wallpaper in your house, you could do this:

i) Wait until she's not there for a while.
ii) Scrape off the wallpaper from one wall.
iii) Write the proposal on the wall with something really permanent, something that will seep into the plaster.
iv) Put up new wallpaper that's exactly the same as the old wallpaper, so that when she comes back she doesn't realise it's been changed.
v) A couple of days later, say you're going to redecorate and ask her to help you scrape off the wallpaper.

Actually, that's not as stupid as I thought it was when I initially had the idea. It would make a memorable proposal.

I just think that if you were to propose in any normal way coming upto valentines its a bit.. merrhhh.

Do it with something totally unexpected but not insanely stupid.. This idea is just Simple, sweet and different. As has been said though, it depends on the girl and how you are with her. I'd do it the way I said it, but thats just me..
