Hi chaps. After bullying all my friends to abandon their Christmas plans and join me for a meal and drinks in London this coming Saturday, I totally forgot to book anything. There are a few places that took my fancy, but every London restaurant seems to come with a caveat. Inamo, with it's Minority Report style tables seemed different, but the maximum table size is six. Red Fort apparently has good food, but lousy service. Give me some ideas! It needs to meet the following:

  • Seat about ten people
  • Be around £40 a head including drinks, £50 at a push
  • Cater for a couple of vegetarians
  • Be in the middle of London somewhere.

This is a hidden gem. Used by lots of MP's during the week but if its a Saturday you'll probably find its not fully booked. The number of folks who have suggested it when they knew my company was footing the bill really surprised me over the years. Best Pakistani Restaurant anywhere food wise. Not plush but not down market either. Their vegetarian dishes were excellent last time I went. But it has no disabled access, don't know if that's important.

The Kundan, 3 Horseferry Road, Westminster.

Ramsay at Claridge's but be careful, some uncouth individual may take a photo of their food and the tablecloth could be a bit creased ;)

The Great Wall is a nice Chinese place at London Bridge. Very nice food.
Smiths of Smithfields is also nice, 2nd floor usually works out to £35-40 per person, 3rd floor is about £29 just for a steak (literally). Food on both floors is excellent however.
