HI all,

I am new to the market of cable, but I think i am giong to have to go with NTL for money reasons at my new house.

I would like to take advantage of a VoIP service such as SIPgate to eliminate the need for BT line rental, or adding on line rental to any NTL package, although I would like the VoIP functionality to be built into a Cable Modem Wireless router. I have a strong preference to Netgear, although I would consider other brands.

Do such products exist? I couldn't find one.

Many thanks if you can help me

There aren't many routers with voip and wireless. Perhaps the fritz box?

hmm oh right....would my other option be then I suppose a cable modem/router with VoIP and then a wireless access point?

Suspect you'll find it's easier to get a router/wireless doodah (eg a a WRT54G/GS/GL) and then add a separate VoIP device.

I'm after the cheap option....WOW at the price of the 2600g mike!

the only thing is...with the spearate VoIP device...I hear that they dont load balance/allocate bandwidth correctly for a call, so if your upload for e.g. is saturated, then your call dies. Am I wrong? this would put be off an external VoIP device you see.

Without QoS, yes.

Er, yes?
What you push down the port isn't relevant - and plenty of routers will do QoS.

Or as Phnom_Phenh suggested, there's something like ipcop.
