Guys,

Im going to be doing some camping this spring, summer and autumn 2009.

Im looking for a synthetic sleeping bag. 3 season. Looking for somthing that will keep me warm in the colder months, but make me not sweat like a pig on heat in the summer!

Needs to be as light as possible (for the price) and be a known brand.

Looking to spend MAX £60

Also looking for a 2/3 man tent to fit in with the above camping. Good waterproof rating as it will be used mostly in Scotland.

Looking to spend MAX £110

So far ive looked at;
Vango Ultralite 300 for £51
Vango Summit 1000 for £53
Vango Spectre 200 for £57.50

Havent really looked at anything else so please give me opinions on your own kit etc

Thanks

Hi. Your specifications seem to exactly match the equipment I was looking for last year. I needed a sleeping bag suitable for scottish camping in early spring and a tent to camp in any time basically.

For the sleeping bag i went with a snugpak softie as it seemed to offer the lowest sleeping temperatures, most compact size and smallest weight avalable in the 3 season synthetic category for around £60. I'm not sure how much it is now. I can tell you that it actually kept me warm in march camping in scotland while sleeping in a tent that basically didn't stop the rain as it came down (the bottom of the tent was flooded and i was holding a cup to catch raind dripping onto me chest while i slept) I'm very happy with it and often find myself sleeping in it rather than my duvet at home (student who cant afford heating :()

As for the tent, I have a Wild Country Hoy. Its a two man tunnel tent and i think it can be found for £50/£60 pounds and I can not stress how good this tent is. As an example, I used it this summer to travel in australia for three months with a friend and slept in it almost every night. We can set it up in a matter of a few minutes in the dark and in poor conditions and i'm quite sure that you could sleep underwater in this tent! for 5 days we camped in the most brutal terrential downpour i've ever experienced. We were the last tent standing in our whole campsite even though the wind was blowing others away and the sheer weight of the rain was forcing others to collapse. One morning we woke up and felt like we were on a water bed. we were practiaclly floating but stayed nice and dry inside. its still looking and performing perfectly well after those brutal three months depsite a small hole chewing by a rat trying to get at some chocolate :p

Vango are nice but realy bad value.

Also, 3 seasons dosn't mean squat. Its a different thing being warm enough to sustain life and warm enough to enjoy it.

Wow, nice way to respond to people who are trying to help!

I was about to contribute but im not sure you deserve the help.

The statement was this, nothing to backup why vango was nice but realy bad value. And no real input regarding the 3 seasons. Then backed up by saying that his vango experiance was years ago!
