Looking for a new soundbar or av option

just finished wall mounting my tv in the living room (LG C2) and want to replace the rather ancient samsung soundbar and associated sub that we've been using for the best part of 10 years

ideally i'd like a 5.1 option but would need to be wireless as i dont really fancy trailing cables round the room and SWMBO will murder me if i start chanelling any more holes in the walls) and yes the cabinet now has doors fitted ;)

connection wise

i need 2 maybe 3 hdmi inputs (xbox virgin box and a switch and output ideally with a single HDMI up to the TV

any recommendations?

5.1 , and wireless for £1000? Increase your budget.

Also wireless is crap.

AVR's alone are £500. You'd want HDMi 2.1
well there is an "ish" there :) been a long time since i did anything av related so not sure what the current climate is like as i said either soundbar or a full on AV reciever open to either

At the end of the day, it depends what @233 is prioritising - experience vs quality.

A wireless 5.1 soundbar system will give you a great experience for £1,000 but not the best quality.

It sounds to me as though you'd favour a better experience.

You have 2 options, in my eyes:

Sonos Beam + 2 surrounds + Sub Mini

or

Samsung Q930B

Daft question is the Sonos kit all wireless ?

No.

The surround speakers - a pair at the rear of the room - they're wireless. So is the sub. The main sound bar which does your front 3 channels or 3-ch + Atmos upfiring is WIRED. It needs a HDMI cable from the ARC or eARC connector on the TV to the sound bar. Without that it's a no go. You need the wire.

If you're trying to get a system that is completely wireless between the TV and the sound bar / AV receiver then you're really crippling your options. Yes, there are some bits of gear that will work with a Bluetooth link from the TV to the sound bar, but it's just stereo or maybe stereo decoded as prologic surround (if you're lucky) and not proper 5.1 surround. BT is not your friend when it comes to surround sound formats. It sucks at it.
No not at all happy for the sound bar and even sun to be wired speakers only I’m looking to be wireless

So you’re looking for the sound bar to connect to the TV wirelessly?

No HDMI cable?

No, happy for the sound bar to connect to the tv via hdmi (Samsung C1) so has earc i believe. Also happy for a sub to be wired, but would prefer satellites to be wireless
