I got the E510 and am keen on investing on a decent telephoto lense.

Am looking to spend £200 max, is that too little?

I also have an Olympus, and was looking at an extra lens to add to the one that came in my kit. Being new to photography, I'm not sure what would qualify a telephoto lens over a large zoom lens (is there a difference).

Either way, when I was looking at some of the (rather limited) options available to users of the 4/3 system, I saw that you could easily get the Olympus Zuiko™ 40-150 mm f/3.5-4.5 Lens for under £200 new, and for closer to £100 on a popular auction website.

I also went onto the Sigma website and noticed they manufacture 3 lenses for the 4/3 system - one of them being the Sigma 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC which is available for £99.99 on a popular high-street photography retailers website. Unsure on the details of that one , does anyone know if that the AF will work?

lol am new to photography as well. But I wanted a long lens around 250mm to 300mm for wildlife pics,

Would'nt want to take a picture of a lion with a 14-45mm lens if you know what I mean ;)

Yea I understand. Our Olympus 4/3 cameras have a field of vision crop factor of 2x compared to 35mm cameras. I think Canons and Nikkons are around 1.5x. This means, for the same focal length lens, 200mm as an example, on an 4/3 camera you get 400mm, and on a Canon you'd get around 300mm.

In essence, Im saying a 200mm lens, which could be in your price range, would give you a focal length of 400mm (35mm camera equivalent).

yeah when I bought the E510, I bouth the twin lens kit,

I already have a 4--150 lens. But I guess I need to save up quite a lot in order to get a decent long rage lens.

I just saw a 800mm one lol which I though was cool, but cost an arm and a leg (Ouch)

Canon 1Ds 1x
Nikon D3 1x
Canon 5D 1x
Canon 1D 1.3x
Nikon (Most models) 1.5x
Canon (Most models) 1.6x
Olympus 2x

:)

I don't know much about Olympus at all as im a Nikon man, but my dad just bought a Sigma 135-400mm for his Oly. Might be worth a look. :)
