Right I'm after a tent, essentially, i've been going camping a lot lately and i'm sick of sleeping in my car.

I did have a large family sized canvas tent at one point, one sleeping compartment and a living compartment, that was great, my uncle gave it to me after using it once, it was quite expensive, then i used it once and my mum decided to bin it (cheers mum). Something similar to that would be ideal, proper heavy poles and canvas skin.

So I'm after something nice and heavy duty, a budget of £100-200 and around a 3 or 4 man but big (I'm 6'6" and like to stretch out in my sleep).
While we're at it, could someone recommend me a big cushty sleeping bag.

What part of camping do you need to sleep in a tent. I esentially turn it into a camper van.
Car, back seats down, 2 kingsize duvets as a base, pillows, a double duvet as the duvet. It's comfy but i'd prefer a decent tent.

Camping isn't about where you sleep, it's about the nights, make a fire, few drinks, cigars, chill round the fire and whatever.

why would you be sick of sleeping in your car ? 100x comfier and drier than a tent

if your always camping in places accessible by car then i wouldnt ever bother with a tent

you're quite big so a 3-4 man might not even fit you!!!

look into the khyam range of tents - something there will definitely suit you

i have a vango sigma 300+ which is more than suitable for me and my girlfriend, cost me about £50.

good tent, ventilation not as good as say a khyam but i can't really afford a polycotton tent

checked millets and eurohike but cant find anything that is pretty big with porch below £200 (I was looking at 4 man/large tents). There are slightly smaller ones with a porch for less than £100 so might be worth looking at them

Funnily enough I too need to get a couple of tents (for me and the family). Thing is, I don't want one big one that takes an hour to put up - no way. I would rather one that my cousin described this last weekend as a 'pop-up' tent - which literally takes minutes to assemble. Obviously they are quite little and only take 2 people - but hey. She also said go for one that is square rather than round as folds up easier and can carry it arround if you're off on a hike or something.

Any ideas?

See my comment above ^ they have pop up tents from £20-£100, dont know how good they would be though.
