Hello chaps,

I'm in need of a thin waterproof jacket and have no idea what's good and what's not, It doesn't need to be anything other than a waterproof layer, so no big coats etc

I don't want to spend much, maybe £30?

Thanks for any suggestions.

You could try somewhere like m and s for a rainmac.

For something slightly more stylish (that word is limited when it comes to waterproofs) then you can probably pick up something like a peter storm for £50ish. My one is light and was a good buy IMO.

Does it need to breath (i.e. will you be moving / working in it) or is it a "I have to stand in a field for 8 hours" kind of thing? Most breathable waterproofs wouldn't stand up to an 8 hour deluge, but if you bought something totally waterproof you'd be soaked from sweat as soon as you started moving!

It's really not going to get much use, it's mainly for my trip to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, it's just so I can stay dry whilst walking around a little bit, hence why I'm relecutant to spend lots on one. Tempted to buy something like this as an emergency measure - http://www.millets.co.uk/clothing/m...Packable-Kag-In-A-Bag.html?attribute=15311445
