Spec me a tough/ruggerd smartphone

Im coming from the Sonim XP3 so im after something just rugged and tough or i know it will meet an early grave.

It needs to be Water Proof because I take calls while in the shower

But also because i like knowing that if i go near water and go in with the phone im my pocket its going to be alive if it gets wet. And i also work out side in all sorts of weather so its almost defiantly going to get soaked there too.

I needs to be tough because im now so used to the Sonims bounce factor that ive come to enjoy being able to pick up an undamaged phone afterwards, And also due to work my phone will get chucked around or dropped out of tractors and get quite a few knocks.

So spec us a smartphone thats as strong as the sonim

(Ive killed fish with the Sonim)

Motorola Defy would seem the obvious choice

I presume you will want one that supports Telstra NextG? This is going to reduce the list of compatible phones. May be worth getting a list and asking people to pick the best from it.

Its good to get a list of phones just to compare, then i can go find out if they are available and work down here.
So far the Defy is obviously winning since its the only one mentioned and i can get it through telstra if i want.
How will the Screen on the defy cope with being dropped? Will it crack very easy or does it take a bit?

But the more opinions the better

I dont mind having a keypad or a touch screen, so dont exclude one or another.

Well the screen on the Defy is gorilla glass, so it's very strong and resistant to scratches, but the phone itself isn't perfect. It's by far and away the most ruggerised smartphone out there but it's not intended to be indestructible, just a lot stronger really.

That plus the water resistance of the Defy would make it a bit more up there with the Sonim.

The problem is that company doesnt make covers for the Defy. Anyone know any other companys that make covers like that?
