Hi guys,

My dad is looking to buy a new tv in the next few weeks. He has a budget of up to about £600 and he's looking to get a tv about 26" to 32" in size. We have been looking around for quite a while but neither of us know a huge amount about TVs. He just wants one with a very sharp and clear picture and pretty good in-built sound. Can anyone recommend any particularly good ones?

Thanks :)

He can't fit anything bigger into the living room so it can't really be bigger than 32". (If i understand your meaning of 'feeding it' :P) then he only uses a DVD player, and he'll get freeview at some point in the near future.

The Sony 26" is being recommended on AVForums and the Samsung has a good following too but that is a little older now. Jump onto http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=155
One of the Panasonic 32" screens is popular too. I apologise for not knowing the models of the afore mentioned sets but a search of the threads should prove useful while waiting for replies to your post on here. Many of today's TV's have Freeview built in, make sure you are in an area which can receive Freeview.
I assume your looking for an LCD? Also consider what kind of warranty you get with your chosen TV as different retailers provide various terms. John Lewis offers 5 years and have a price matching facility.

Research and research some more then take your list of choices to a store and see them in the flesh. A good time to view is when a particular sport is being shown such as football to check for motion blur.

Thanks for the help and advice guys, i'm pretty sure my dad is set on getting a Panasonic 32" one. Thanks for the useful information :)
