So in a little over 2 weeks we'll be moving into a new house. Our previous house had integrated appliances so we escaped the joy of having to shop for laundry appliances.

A few facts;

- 2 adults + 2 children (under 1 yr old at the moment)
- I work from home, so Wifi start isn't essential
- Good energy efficiency is high on the list
- Budget is around £1000 for the two items (anything less would be a bonus)
- I quite like graphite in terms of colour, but not overly religious
- Would like a heat pump tumble dryer

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

I've had LG in the past and they've been excellent. My tumble drier is still going after 8 years and I've never had a single issue with it. I had to sell the washer as I bought a new house with one integrated. I would definitely buy LG again.

There’s a new brand called hiensn sp? Good spec a rated, big drum, self clean, steam wash etc for Around £500 from Costco. But the reviews for the brand is awful.

yep I’m looking for a new machine too. Mine has burnt out the pcb and it’s replacement.

washing machine reliability is in a large part down to how often it gets used.

I've had brand for 8 years or whatever is all good but kinda useless info without a house hold head count.

I live alone had a beko that cost £200 for about 8 years, whilst it seems mega reliable it only gets used twice a week.

with kids your likely washing daily and with my machine probably would hae seen a fault within 2 years

thats a very good point, for that reason I chose a machine that cost more than £450 which has bit me in the bum as the motor is over £300

Buy Miele, they last 20 years
Is this still genuinely the case? I’ve read that the build quality has dropped in recent years, so whilst a model built in 2000 may well still be working it doesn’t necessarily mean today’s models will work in 2041 ….

also, double the price for twice the lifespan …. 6 vs half a dozen right?

samsung ..had mine must be going on 6 yrs it's on at least once a day if not twice on days off .. don't use a dryer sorry ..
you want a high spin 1400 or higher and the ability to do a 95 deg wash .. :)

Invested in a Samsung washer dryer as they gave a 5 year all inclusive and 10 year motor warranties at the time. It seems they might have stopped giving out the 10 year motor warranties, but still give the 5 year overall.

Been very happy with it, very quiet (most of the time; if you are spinning at 1600rpm then can get a bit noisy towards the end of the cycle), cleans well, clothes come out well span and the drier get clothes close to dry (that's on me though for using the 9kg washing capacity for drying as well).

It is now 5.5years old, and still goes strong. Used 2-3 times a week on average. I like the fact that it has water-less cycles for sanitising or remove odours from clothes; perfect if all you want is to refresh a piece of clothing. I also like the fact that it has preventative maintenance mode; for me roughly every 20 wash cycles it will prompt me to use the 'Eco Drum Clean' mode, which cleans off the drum and insides and prevents issues.

Family of 2 adults, 2 children here. Recently replaced our Bosch washer with another one - previous lasted over ten years. The tumble dryer bought at the same time is still going strong.

Bosch or Siemens as they pretty much come out of the same factory - wouldn't buy anything else other than Miele but they're big £££.

We had to replace ours last year and almost went the LG and Samsung route but read quite a few bad reviews of both and stuck with what we know.

Moved into a new house last week, the previous owners obviously used their own integrated washing machine as when we got in and tried the one they left it didn't work. I managed to fix it by clearing out the drain filter however clothes still come out with a funny smell plus I don't like the noise of the belt. We have a Siemens coming on Wednesday and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
