I got a good deal on 6 monitor audio r90 speakers, i've got another crappy speaker to put as central, so all i need is a good not too expencive subwoofer and a good sorround sound amp. I've got this sound card and im pretty pleased with it sound quality

I have absolutely no idea about good sorround sound setup cause i never could actually be bothered with it, headphones used to cut it for me, but i dont want my speakers go to waste collecting dust, so i decided to invest into installing a sorround sound system. so all i need is a good amp and a deicent woofer. It will be used to play games and watching movies on my pc.
Ty for your input

how crappy is crappy ?

the centre is probably the most important speaker when watching movies as all the dialogue comes through it.... you don't wanna skimp on it !

hmm, its a 5 yr old sony speaker from a mid range hi-fi. got it from my mate, tested amd it seems to work fine. not sure about the budget. nothing too fancy, i guess. like i said i have no idea what i'm getting into. i've seen amps over a grand, but i would not spend that much...

had a look around in what hi-fi mag, and found an onkyo tx-sr505 for 250. according to reviews its very good for its price. Does anyone own one? is 250 quid good price for an amp or should i spend more?

Onkyo are doing some really good AV at the moment, the 505 is a cracking little amp but if you can stretch to it the 605 is well worth the extra, far more future proof.

BK do make some great subs at really good prices.

You should also consider getting rid of your centre if it rubish and doesnt match, you could pick up a Monitor Audio Radius R180 for cheap as chips second hand, theres one on the bay at the moment, £30 :)

i would recommend not getting the 505, it doesn't support audio through hdmi which is shame (its not the only budget hdmi amp that does this though). as kidloco said, if you want a decent amp go for the 605. its well rounded and supports audio over hdmi and is a very good price:)
