So me and my mate are thinking of going next year just wondering how much per day hotels are and how expensive the ferry is from Newcastle. also if anyone's been before where did you stay and was it good ?
 
yep. unless you're going to spend everyday stoned and visit the red light district, i wouldn't bother - go to prague instead
 
if you're going just to get stoned, i'd recommend not buying drugs in amsterdam because all the tourist traps are overpriced and generally inferior to that found in other dutch cities.

taking the ferry is such a waste of time, especially from newcastle!
you can fly for 1p on ryanair to somewhere relatively close and then take a train

what this man says

i've had the good fortune to visit 8 major european cities this year, and prague was by far the most fun. if you're gonna be hostelling, stay at HostelOne - it's near the main train station, has a really cheap bar (~80p a pint for nice drinkable lager), and the staff tend to lead nights out to cheap czech clubs crammed with hotties at the end of the evening
