Spec me an auto/hatchback for £1500

Focus autos (facelift) are not very poor. You must be thick or blind to not read the many posts that i have made after you have said they are poor.

WTF, was that called for? I've only said that I've heard they are poor once in this thread

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18199841

You made ONE post on the subject saying you haven't had a problem with them. So you can stick your "many posts" and thick/blind nonsense somewhere else.

Fwiw, he ain't getting any facelift focus for this budget and to be perfectly honest I wouldn't want any ford auto for this sort of money.

Well seriously, its just stupid, I'm not even going to bother to point out what could possibly be LOL about a DEALER flogging a 70k mile '53 plate Focus for 1500 quid either.

At least I'm not the only one. Wasn't too pleased about being called an idiot for suggesting it was a bad idea when someone once made one post to the contrary in a different thread :(

No fox, owned 2 driven plenty of others and know people with them (actually had more problems with the mk2 focus reportedly). How many focus autos have you lived with?

And iand, i didn't call you an idiot

Get a jap car, iv had 4 civics within 3 years, lol

have a look at toyta corolla, they are very reliable.

or go german, you can get a decent golf for £1500 - £2000

Is that supposed to be some sort of dig? Not really sure how its relevent as my point isnt that 'the Focus auto sucks because it isn't a Mercedes' or anything like that.

I wouldnt buy a Focus auto because I consider them poor. For this budget, I would instead buy something else - perhaps a Honda Civic auto for total reliability. The Focus at this end of the market simply represents a very poor buy. I don't beleive you can buy a half decent one, only a shabby one.

Just trying to work out the relevence of that stupid Ivory Tower dig when we are talking about a Focus auto being a poor car for £1500. I assumed it was some sort of reference to me looking down on the Focus, when in reality, I am looking across at it in this thread.

no, you look down on the focus auto. You have commented plenty of times on them before about how you feel they are poor.
the ivory comment was in regards to you not needing to buy a car that you feel is poor. god help you if you ever fell on hard times!

Ah so you did mean exactly what I thought you meant

I really dont see what relevence your comment has. You are not forced to buy a poor car if you 'fall on hard times'. There exist cars which are good at ANY pricepoint. It's got nothing to do with only being able to afford a 'poor car'. Poor in this context has nothing to do with wealth. Poor means 'not very good'.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with 'looking down' or I'd hardly have mentioned a Honda Civic for the same money as a better bet, would I?

I wouldnt want to buy a manual Focus for just £1500 let alone an Auto. I do not beleive this sort of money buys you a good one, there is too much demand for the Focus at this end of the market and even ropey crap ones command decent money. Therefore your 1500 quid gets you... a ropey crap Focus. A Civic or similar wont be showroom condition either but at least Honda have total reliability absolutely nailed.

Your posts read as if I'm in this thread saying he should buy a £10,000 Audi instead

You do not believe because you have never actually had to go and drive some of them. Go out and try a focus auto, and expect it to be what it is, at this budget and there will be some that are just fine.
