Spec me an egg cooker

I like hard boiled eggs.

I know the really obvious answer is a saucepan on the hob like this

But I want something I can switch on in the morning and forget about until lunchtime where I'll find nicely hard boiled eggs that I can peel and eat.

Someone's mentioned this to me but I wonder if anyone has any experience of egg cookers? This is probably cheaper to run than chucking a pan on the hob as well as being more convenient.

I can't see how keeping cooked eggs warm will be good. The shells will prob weld themselves on.

They don't, from what I can see, they cook and switch off.

At this point, I realise I am assuming you have an air fryer.....

I do not have an air fryer.

even with a boiled egg you remove it at circa 4mins - otherwise the soldiers don't work.

Irrelevant, I want hard boiled.

7 hardboiled eggs a day, keeps me feeling strong.

When it finishes cooking, do you have to intervene to switch it off or does it stop automatically?

Still looking for something automatic. The one I bought beeps continually, demanding attention when it thought it had finished so I’ve sent it back. I really want something I can switch on and walk away from, coming back later when it’s all done and cold.

The beeping wasn’t even very loud.

They are not great, quite bad in fact, for you in large (more than a couple a week) quantities.

What's bad about them?

Are they that different?

American eggs have to be kept refrigerated by law because they're washed so the natural barrier is removed.
