Spec me an i5 motherboard to get 760 to 4+ghz

All the Gigabyte P55 and H55 boards have the same BIOS mate. So you can use any guide that you find.

If you are stuck post and I am sure that we can help out if it is needed.

What kind of overclock are you aiming at?

Hey,

I'm looking for a stable overclock that won't kill my cpu! I've posted to find out what my options are cooling wise as my current cooler just doesn't cut it! Once I've got a better cooling solution I'll be sure to post back here! :)

Thank you for your help :)

Hey,

Thanks! Just trying to find some sort of oc guide for this board but can't seem to find much specific to this one! Gutted - back to trial and error for me but will post up results tomorrow or friday - I'm getting told off for spending too much time playing on my 'toy' :(

As said above, your bios will be virtually identical to the UD-4/UD-5, and your chip is basically identical to a 750, just it starts a few mhz faster.

Nice detailed guide, tells you about all the important stuff.

Hey guys,

Finally had a bit of time to play around - I'm currently lowering the vcore down from 1.4 and have arrived at the following so far -

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Will try some lower voltage later as the temperatures are far too high for my liking - also I'm going to invest in a decent cooler. I think it looks quite promising though?

Thanks

nice you got the gigabyte board

on my i5 750 i got 4ghz with
1.36 vcore
1.210vtt
1.66 dram which was running at 6-9-6-24 @ 2000mhz
idle was 35 load was 65 on water

what cooler are you using?
i think you should lower the speed because anything over 85c is bad imo

Hey,

I have an £18 whopper cooler! The Arctic Cooling Freezer v2. The temperature doesn't go over or to 80 degrees, but I am looking at getting a decent cooler for it.

Presumably I can lower my vtt a touch more then? I haven't really played with it at all?

Thanks

You might. I seem to need 1.3 on mine to achieve my 200 bclk. Fairly high core volts too - I aint got the best i5 in the world, but it sits happy at 4GHz every day totally stable. My settings fyi...

bclk 200
cpu multi 20
mem multi x8
qpi ratio x32
pci clock 100
ram 9 9 9 24 (XMP disabled, mem setup manual with performance enhance 'turbo')

vcore 1.375 in BIOS (CPUZ shows 1.36 at idle and 1.392 load with LLC on level 2)
qpi vtt 1.3
pch 1.1
cpu pll 1.9
ram 1.66

cpu and pci clock drive both 900mv

turbo boost, EIST, C states etc all off

Actually I think my vcore is one notch down now - when I got a decent PSU I found I could lower it just a notch and still be stable, maybe cos the PSU is cleaner than my old cheap one.

Hey again!

I've lowered the VTT to 1.22v and its dropped the temperatures a wee bit more?

Currently priming at

CPU at 1.328 according to cpu-z, forgot to open it up again for the screenshot, vtt at 1.22 and other settings all the same still and results are now

Temperature drop of about two degrees? I think a different cooler and some more clocking might be an idea ? :)

Looking good.

Try IBT while you're still fiddling as it shows up instability quicker than prime (is the general consensus). Hotter than prime, too, so be careful with that cooler as you're pretty toasty already.

Hey,

I want a better cooler before I stress it. I'm not comfortable leaving it running prime unless I'm watching the temps so once I've got a better cooler that I can trust enough to leave it alone i'll stress it properly :)

The board is brilliant for overclocking though, an excellent recommendation so thank you :)
