Well a GTX460 768mb would be a better buy if he can afford it

GTX460 1GB will be even better
Doesn't really matter though, as WoW is very much more cpu dependant, and being what, 5 years old now? its not too hard to max the graphics
Guys, thanks so much for this help and discussion. Its really helping me no end since been out of the loop with PC hardware for a year or two. Maybe the i7 is the one to go for.... I may be able to free up another couple of hundred since the repairs to my wife's car were less than I though they would be...
So I will check out that i7 spec. Would 8 Gig of memory be valid combination or would I need to go to 12 Gig?

you would need to go 6gb or 12gb with the triple channel memory of the i7....
6gb corsair is more than enough kirkster
and if you find its not you can put more in later....Brilliant. 
Thanks I will investigate those components further. Not sure if that MOBO is a good choice for RAID 5 though....?
Some internet posts suggest the ASUS is the one to go for if you want to do raid 5. As I say, will investigate - wanted some ideas to get me up and running.
