"Spec me..." Is it just me?

More info

A web site has commissioned me to research & write an article about bizarre or otherwise newsworthy porn stars' deaths. The research is leading me to some rather naughty web sites. I never knew pornography was on the internet!

It's not so much the spec me threads that annoy me, it's the spec me threads that contain the same requirements as one that was done recently that a quick search could show. Not so much for GD as for the other technical sections of the forum.

The first part of your statement is valid. However I am referring to people who ask to spec a teapot or a towel or something, stupid like that.

Well, OK, granted, but that sort of thread would be ridiculous whether or not it was prepended with "Spec me".

Ice On Fire said:
By the way, I am over myself. Would you like a cookie too, to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, Mr. Vonhelmet?

On nom nom cookies.

The reason I hate the spec me threads in general is they are more often than not a means for the OP to try and have a funny thread. Ooooh spec me a spoon! Now watch the hilarity roll in.

I have probably been guilty of starting a spec me... thread in GD, but usually about something boring! :p

Well you find computers in PC shops not PC forums, so by your logic, spec me a PC threads are also stupid.

Not all teapots are equal, I think it's a great spec me subject!

Is that the best you can come up with? Really? The forum of a computer shop doesn't literally sell PC's therefore it's fine to recommend teapots?

Jesus wept.

For the record, I think it's fine to ask such questions, it helps identify those particular posters which have the mental capabilities of a mollusc.

That's not what I said though, I was illustrating the irrelevance of your comment:

'And also knows that you find the ****ing things in shops, not PC forums'.

It seems that you are the one with the 'mental capabilities of a mollusc' (brilliant by the way).

Thanks ;)

If you're going to be as pedantic as that over inference in a throwaway statement, then the illustration you attempt to paint becomes void in my eyes.

My point still stands, you want a teapot, find a teapot forum. Next time I'll be sure to write a full and detailed description of exactly what I'm patronising and why, just to be sure :P
