Im looking to get a laptop for video editing and a bit of gaming - preferably wow

i have been looking at the dell xps range - are they worth the money?

should i have 2gb of Ram

and is it worth having the geforce 7900?

mobility isnt a big problem becuase i would rather have a 17'' screen and it to be more powerfull

my budget is about £1300ish

any help would be great

thanks

HI there

Take a look at the DELL XPS on OcUK, its about £400 than buying it direct from DELL and well it stupidly quick! :D
They are in stock too so next day delivery or collection is fine. :)

i like the look of it a lot but just cant quite afford it - slightly out of my price range

what is more important for what i want the laptop for - ram / cpu or gfx card?

are ocuk doing any other xps - just slightly lower spec?

thanks

If you email [email protected] I can look how much we paid for that model and see if we can offer any discount as normally on XPS models we can knock quite a bit of money of so might be able to make it affordable to you.

Any graphics card from a 9700 mobility up can run WOW, as I have done a lot recently.

The 2gb of ram and a decent HDD are important, but for the video editing if your software supports multiple threads a dual core CPU is a must.

The laptop is a steal as it is considering the specs when comparing it to some other Acers and Sony's that I have just had a look at, if you can get even £20 more off it from talking to Gibbo it is a great buy.

Dell laptops are well built solid machines, easy to get spares for aswell so its worth paying the extra now for one. Wish I had have done now with my Acer, the batterys just cost so much more.

Wow Gibbo you do have the Dells cheap, the 2nd from bottom dell with the 1400 ATI would be a good bet, but the XPS would last for a year, maybe two longer before needing an update. Personally it is not much of a brainer as it will be cheaper in the long run in this case. If you can get even more knocked off then it would be worth every penny.
