Not true. I got caught
Only fined £15 but when the train ticket costs 50p it's not worth it.Spec me Prague

Does a fantastic white hot chocolate. Food isn't as expensive as most places either we found (only basic sandwiches and cakes etc). Tis a tiny little place though, so getting a seat may need a wait.

Going to Charles Bridge and Old Town from your hotel I'd walk, it's not very far at all.
To the castle, I'd walk to Wenceslas Sq. take the green line to Malostranska then either walk up the steps to the castle or take a tram up the hill to the castle.

Stunning meal, just really special. Wine list is huge. Not cheap for Prague but average price for such good food. I had the baby chicken with foie gras.
Also highly recommend tri stoleti. On the west side of Charles bridge hidden down a side street. Warming feel good Czech food at a silly silly low price! Great for lunch after walking over the bridge.

It's nowhere near as awesome as that most of the time. When I was touring round Europe in the summer it was probably the most overhyped, disappointing attraction I saw.
Overall, Prague is a fantastic city though.
So we got the metro to the castle, bought our tickets and still managed to end up getting a fine as we didn't get the tickets stamped!!!
To be fair, the guy was clearly looking out for tourists, and we were on his radar. 700kr each later and we're now sat in Tri Stoleti eating good food
