Ha that's amazing. I'll try that but not on a good bottle, I hate the waste!

That Thienot I had was amazing. Really really recommend it.

We had the Cristal on Friday, which again, was perfect. Such a great drink.

It doesn't really waste much but I agree not something for anything too good. I remember researching it a while back and there's a sabrage society where you advance by using ever increasing sizes of champagne bottles!

I did it at our wedding to start off the toast and apparently was incredibly close to hitting the master of ceremonies in the face with the cork :/

Nah, it's still on the bucket list though. I'm just balls deep in working contracts while trying to get investment and a product shipped for my own company, relocating business to the US and a wife and 3 kids ha

Apparently something had to give. I still want it though, it would be amazing. Next year...

They have a decent stash of more 1997 still in the cellars that will be a late release at some point in the nearish future.

I had a 96 bolly last year, but it wasn't kept well and as such it was off

This thread reminds me I had a bottle of the 2006 Louis Roederer the other week. First time I've had a vintage LR (other than Cristal) and was suitably impressed, although Eperney served it in an ice bucket with no ice on a hot sunny day so it got a little warm towards the end.

One thing I love about Louis, is that I don't think it suffers too much on warming. Which is what I like to think you can tell a decent Champagne by.

If you ever get a 95, do it. 95 BdB also, stunning. That said, the 08 rosé is on point, too, for a much younger vintage.
I think I've nailed nearly every year tbh

Agreed, it certainly didn't suffer like a lot of champagnes.

My sadness came from them having no Gosset, suggesting a discount would be applied and then when we went to pay the waitress who'd said that had left

Yeah, in it's dark resisting wooden box out of harms way.. hopefully the air temps have remained favourable.

Yea, these guys had it in normal room, probably very much too hot, too much light etc.

I have this 85 Krug, which I was assured that had been stored well, but you know, it's always a minefield!

Champagne can be quite delicate in wrong temp and the like but when it's aged well, it's generally superb.
