Spec me some lights

After my terrifying experience last night of getting caught in a sudden storm, and seeing it go from light to very dark in minutes, I need some lights!

Trouble is a lot of the lights I see seem to be rather bulky, or won't fit if you have a GPS computer mount on your front bars etc.

What do people use on here?

I was looking at these:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-micro-drive-rear-led-light/
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/exposure-link-combination-front-and-rear-light/

Any other options?

Thanks guys

Are you looking for lights to see, or to be seen?

I have an old set which includes http://www.wiggle.co.uk/exposure-tracer-rear-light/ and http://www.wiggle.co.uk/exposure-trace-front-light/. Both good lights which allow me to be seen.

I also got a set of Knog lights. These: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/knog-blinder-mob-kid-grid-front-light/ and http://www.wiggle.co.uk/knog-blinder-mob-v-mr-chips-rear-light/ but payed about £16 for the pair just before Christmas. Both are very good too. Again, to be seen.

I'll have a look at those! Thanks

Yeah it would just to be seen, don't really ever see myself being out to the point I wouldn't even be able to see in front of me

I got an end of line Lezyne Deca Drive light last year so I could see in the dark for around £60. Cycling in the dark with just lights is pretty fun actually!

Also check out Lezyne lights.

Yeah the Lezyne micro rear light is the one in the OP, I like the look of it and it's got a very good lumens rating for such a small light. USB chargeable too which is a must for me

I'll have a look at the front ones they offer, just worry about mounting it with the Bolt mount on there too which is why I looked at the helmet mounted one

I used to have a Smart rear light on my bike all year round but then the mount sheared at 60+ km/h and the light lost in a brave fight against the road.

Replaced it with some of these as they are much cheaper (if less powerful):

Even at 0.5w you don't want to be looking right into the top light. At £2 it's expendable if it falls off as well.

I really rate Exposure, specifically the TraceR. It's worth every penny! I won't use anything else - bear in mind I run a flash/pulse rear light all year round even in the daytime. I own two of them and may buy a 3rd if/when my Moon Comet dies.

The front Trace version is ok, but it's expensive compared to alternatives. It flashes bright as a 'be seen' light but the light is too unfocused for a 'to see' light (ie you can't really used it as a 'to see' backup) and the burntime seems significantly lower than the rear TraceR. I still run one as a 'be seen' light but my primary 'to see' light is 1000+ lumen. I've found anything less pretty pointless in the winter.

Cheaper alternatives would be anything Cateye VOLT. Superb front lights, I've previously owned the Volt100, Volt400 & Volt800 (400 & 800 returned for faults & refunds used to 'upgrade', would still recommend). The 'mini rc' is great too but don't think they're available anymore.

I have the Lezyne and maybe my one is a duffer but the battery life is nothing near the claimed run times. It is literally a charge every use for short to medium rides job. You can repeat this statement for all three of my Lezyne lights, a brand I'll never buy again TBH.
