Spec me.... some pans!!

I'm still using some old burnt crappy pans my mum and dad gave me when I moved out about 4 years ago. I have started getting into cooking and would like to invest in some pans, nothing too expensive but at least have some quality to them.

I have no idea where to start really so would like anyone who has some pans they are quite fond of to give me some recommendations!

I ideally need a new frying pan and a set of 3 pans of different sizes. All for general purpose cooking!

Get a big cast iron pan, Le Creuset are the well known name but as long as it's heavy duty it'll be fine.
Great for cooking steaks/casseroles/things like that. Not meant make tomato based foods in them but you can if you want.

Anolon are pretty much the best non-stick pots and pans for their price point.

Not cheap but worth it; nothing has ever stuck to the surface of my frying pan... ever. Even crusty stuff can just be wiped off in one go with a damp cloth.

Yeah big heavy cast iron pans are great, shop around you might get one half price like I did.

Tefal do the job for teflon stuff.

But for heavy duty ones, go for Le Creuset. But as mentioned above, shop around..

Another vote for Anolon from me! I bought myself a new Anolon Pro skillet and chefs pan last week as my current pans were getting a bit worn out. So far they're great, hold the heat well and are easy to clean. Just need to get myself some nice ribeye this weekend to test out my skillet properly!

Le Creuset also double up when you need a work out. Can't see ever needing to replace a set of them (arms might be another issue)

I've stayed clear of teflon coated pans, my recent set are all stainless steel jobs, yes its more expensive to go down this route but i feel its worth it.

Depends on your budget.

The 32cm Tefal frying pan (£12) and set of Ready Steady Cook pans with drainer lids (£40) serves me and the missus perfectly.

My mum got me some Stellar ones, they are pretty price I think though, but are really nice

Check out TKMaxx if you have one near you, quite often do some decent kitchen stuff at good value prices.

My Meyer pans haven't lasted well so I won't be buying them again. They get a lot of heavy use but my older Tefal ones have outlasted them.
