Ok, sorry about the long opening, and i know its late. But i need a bit of advice and i need to get all this off my chest.

I have been at uni all year doing my second year as a law student. Parents decided to take me to Egypt over Christmas holidays which was a nice gesture but i lost 3 weeks of 'study, earning money and seeing my mates' time. Since Jan i have studied extra hard to catch up and have had 4 courseworks to hand in, the last of which i handed in on wednesday just gone.

Now my dad owns a few big restaurants and were opening another big one in Sutton. It was supposed to be open on wednesday, which is why after a stressful few months at uni, minutes after handing my last coursework in i was in *** car on my way back home will all my stuff.

The original plan was to work in the restaurant probibly 5/6 days a week, doing a good 60 odd hours a week. This would have allowed me to make a chunk of money. And in any time i have left i would be seeing my mates or doing other little jobs i need to get done ect. When you work so much and earn lots of money, you always spend your free time having fun, no time to stop and get bored.

Because i knew i would be working so hard and have little spare time i paused my gym membership for 2 months, thought id hit it again after the exams.

Now the problem is that the restaurant has been delayed and wont open for 2 weeks yet.

I have sky at home but dont watch tv, my pc is at uni and i am stuck on my sisters 6 year old dell, so no music or video to watch or games to play. I have no money or next to nothing, im not earning so i cant really be going out spending without thinking, so shopping or going out on nights out isnt really somthing i should be doing. I got most of my little jobs done today.

So what do i do for the next 2 weeks? Ive been sitting around, sleeping, and eating for 3/4 days and im bored of that.

I dont want to touch a book for a few weeks yet, and my mum hasnt even got the car to drop me off and pick me up from places.

Any ideas, before i go mad. What would you do in my situation to have some fun, keep yourself occupied and still feel like you have had a productive day at the end of each day.

stop being a spoilt brat!

I cant see what makes you say that. Im happy to work hard for my money and i never said that i am unhappy or that i am not happy with the fact that i have food on the table and a roof over my head. I am only asking for some ideas on how to keep busy. No need for the unconstructive post. I post on these forums because there is a great community and from that great community comes good ideas when you need them. If you dont like my thread you dont have to post in it.

Aye, poor bloody you. You got to go to Egypt but missed out on so much - you poor soul. You're daddy owns several restaurants and it has been delayed and now you're bored?

boo bloody hoo to be honest.

Also, need to get it off your chest? Get WHAT off your chest exactly?

Again, like i said to ace modder, if you have somthing constructive to say im all ears, i am after all asking for advice. If on the other hand you have nothing better to do that post useless comments then i really dont need to hear it mate. I asked for ideas and advice, its optional, you dont have to post in the thread if you dont want to. And yes, although i was taken to Egypt (which i dad say was nice in the original post, or didnt you read that) i did miss out on a lot because it spoiled my plan for the year. I had to do 4 courseworks this time of year when i would have been doing 1 if i hadnt gone. And as for my 'daddy' owning several restaurants, grow up mate! So i get abuse because my dads doing well for himself. I ask for advice and ideas and i get you being a smart *** because of my situation. Just because my dad has a few restaurants doesnt mean i cant be bored does it!

... So you're on holiday and you're bitching about it? Anyway, you cant be *that* poor, your dad has 'several restaurants' and took you to Egypt.
Do something useful with your time. Help someone out. Volunteer at a charity shop, whatever.

Im not poor in a sense that without work i'l starve, but i pay my own way. Parents wont give me money for dossing. I would love to do some charity work but i only have two weeks, by the time they train me in some shop it'l be over. I am doing some in the summer though. As far as helping anyone out, im helping around the house, cleaning and stuff, nothing else for me to do.

Read, browse these forums, make something. Being creative should help a lot.

Alternatively just play WoW and watch porn.

Hmm I just re-read your post and it doesn't seem like you really know how to be a student! I know you have more experience of it than me, but you should definitely know how to bum around by now!

I cant play WOW, i aint got my pc here so cant play any games. Porn gets boring when the monkey gets sore! :p As far as being constructive is concerned, what would you have me do? Paint somthing?! :D

You're doing law, it's hardly difficult or hard to catch up on.

And you know this because you have a first class LLB law degree for oxford dont you!

The melodramatic nature of your opening post is uncalled for and pathetic. It makes out as though your life is just terrible and that (Oh My God) isn't being bored and 'unconstructive' the worst thing in the world?!?!?! When you have no clue whatsoever and are indeed a very lucky individual.

I'm trying to remind you of that. If that's not constructive I don't know what is.

With all due respect, you mad have decided that the opening was melodramatic but i described my life in the way that i thought best. And its 'uncalled for'? Said who? If you dont like it, you dont have to add to the thread. I stick to the rules of the foums, so whether you think its uncalled for not i couldnt care less to be honist. I never said my life is terrible, and i never said i wasnt lucky, you just took that for granted. Cant a guy have a comfortable life and not post for ideas on how to make his two weeks more interesting and constructive? Would it have been a better post if my 'daddy' was very poor and i had only one arm?!

Paint something, do some gardening, read, see if any local charities could do with an extra man for a couple of weeks.
Go fishing, go for some long walks/bike rides (better and cheaper than the gym...)

The list is practically endless, if all else fails, pop down to your local library and browse their hobbies section.

I cant paint! I am going to cut the grass tomorrow because it need doing but that will only take up an hour. I am afraid i dont own a bike, else thats not a bad idea. And going for walks without a fit gal to keep a young 20 year old guy company is a bit.....odd! :p

It took you 20 sentences to tell us you were bored. And that's not over the top? OK then..

It took me '20 sentences' to explain why i am bored, what i would be normally bed doing and to explain that i had a plan which went boobies up and now i want some ideas. Why do you have such a big problem with that.

How can you all call the OP spoilt?

He has been earning all his own money at uni and now that hes unemployed he wants to be conservative with his cash? Surely thats the complete opposite?!

And soon he will be working 60 hour weeks in his dads restraunt. I bet that very few of you calling him 'spoilt' actually work such hours.

Thank you! Exactly, maybe trojan can understand that. I work hard for my money and study the rest of the time. I have free time now and dont want to waste it and would like to have some fun and be constructive. I just want some ideas.

tbh honest, i think a lot of you took it the wrong way, and where far too nasty in your responses.

All i got from it was that he was bored, and he explained why he was bored!

I cant see why that makes him spoilt at all!

As for things to do:

The MSN Conspiracy game.
Walking
Got a digital camera? if so take lots of pics.
Call up some mates.
Go for a kick about.
Just get out and make the most of the nice weather!
Start a conversation with a stranger.
Make a new friend.
Become intimate with your palm.
Organise your sisters room for her.
Wash your car, wash someone elses car, hell, wash the entire streets.
Gardening.
Other household chores!

What is the msn conspiracy game?!
I went for a walk yesterday, but it only killed about 15 mins. I live in a small town and walking is a bit boring.
My mates are either still at uni revising or ah home but working. I have been out with them a couple times but it gets a bit repetative going down the pub and costly. Its also not good for the old gut!
What nice wether? I spent some time in the garden yesterday, took the advice from one of the posts made above but its quite cold and not really fun because the suns not out.
My sister wont let me in her room and i have already organised and reorganised my room!
My dad has a van that gets home late at night! And at 20 i think i am a bit old to go door to door washing, and its cold!!!!! :p
There isnt really much to do by the way of household work. I Have been helping my mum out a lot but it doesnt really kill a lot of time, and its not fun lol!

Why do we need to know:

a) About your free trip to Egypt
b) About Daddies empire

In order to spec you something to do for 2 weeks?

There is always a few aint there! If you havent already read my posts regarding people who post in my thread only to moan, go read them.

Melbourne: I can already cook some cool stuff, i have been teaching my mum and sister what i know and i have been learning some stuff from my mum but it doesnt really take up a lot of time. I would love to go running but i dont have any good running shoes, and without them i might injur myself. I might give it a go tomorrow though, there is the school cross country run only around the corner. Used to take me over 20 mins years ago, i suppose i could give that a good go! RE Washing cars: Forget that dude! Only car i wash is my dads car, but we havent got that at the moment so cant! My sister cant play chess and i cant learn much of a language in two weeks! I have frozen my gym account at the moment because i know i wont be able to really make use of it. I dont like to be on and off with my exercise and with only 2 weeks off i dont want to get into it to stop again when the exams start but thats what will end up happening! And temp, for two weeks, i dont think its worth the effort.

What is laparkout?

Richdog, and eveyone else that has told me to take up photography: I have a great digi cam. I loved taking pics in Egypt but thats because the landscape was amazing, family was in them, it was sun shining days and the sea was nice to photograph to. But now im stuck in the small town of cannock. What am i supposed to go out and take amazing pictures of? I loved it on holiday but i cant see it being half as good down the local town centre lads?

I think the main probem is not that there is nothing to do but it takes a lot to entertain me. Plus i dont just want to chill and be happy doing nothing. I want to use these two weeks as holidays and look back at them in a month when im doing my exams and have good memories of fun stuff i did. I really need to achive somthing on a day to day basis. I have fun sitting about watching tv and eating burgers but its not really somthing to discus with your mates when you get back to uni as stories of what you did over easter.

I went shopping to morrisons for mum today which was good because she didnt have to go then and i carried all the bags back. I felt like id got somthing done. I also spent some time in the garden but its dam cold! I tidyed the pc room a bit which felt rewarding.

I have to go and do some health and safety course in Sutton at the restaurant tomorrow so i am looking forward to that as i will get a certificate for it. Atleast i will feel that i have got somthing interesting and constructive done in the week.

Just to make a point of how bored i am getting and how far i will go to do somthing interesting and rewarding, i rang up the travel agents today! I thought id go to India for a week or week and a half. I have family over there at the moment and so it would be great. Great time pass, love to see the family and definatly interesting. Great story to tell when i get back with the lads at uni in 3 weeks. I can get a ticket leaving on this friday but i cant get back till the 24th which is no good as my first exam is a few days after that. If i could have got the tickets for a week and a half i would have packed my bags and gone! :p

trojan698 said:
When in doubt, get daddys credit card out! Brilliant. :D

LOL! Naaa, i would have brought the tickets myself, dad dont pay for anything. I dont like to take money off my parents, ive had a job for years and i try to pay my own way best i can.

As far as watching tv episodes goes, thats hardly fulfilling and satisfying is it! :p
