Spec me...stuff to do in Japan!

It really depends on what your interests are and what sort of things you like to do ...

Meiji Shrine
Asakusa
Akihabara (shopping, note the UDX building here has a couple of floors of restaurants which is good for lunch and also public loos which are ok and useful if you are in the area)
Shibuya (shopping)
Ginza (Shopping)
Tokyo Tower (I went at 9am on a nice sunny morning and it was very pleasant and not crowded at all).
National Science Museum (At Ueno Park .... infested with many small children in coloured hats when I went)

for instance. The underground/light rail systems are good and extensive and are not difficult to use, and the Shinjuku station complex (one of the busiest in the world) is fun at rush hour.

The fish market is an interesting visit but bear mind that it is a working market and has little truck things flying around which makes it not the safest place in the world (and you need to be there very early to be able to glimpse the tuna auctions).

If you want to go out a bit further then Nikko is a historical place near Tokyo and it's possible to nip down to Kyoto easily (but not cheaply) which has lots of sights of interest.

Most importantly though; department stores have food areas, normally in the basement. These sell really, really nice cakes which they individually box up for you, very carefully, with cooling packs .... mmmm cakey ...

Anyway Tefal, search Google for ["Flights to Thailand" gaijinpot] he seems to have replaced his posts with porn, and in return the people on the Gaijinpot forum ripped him a new one and have posted his full address, education info, and so forth...
Note to self: never **** off the internet.

lolneocon that thread was awesome!

@ OP be sure to take plenty of photographs please! I want to go to Japan at some point in the near future.

I surprised it hasn't been given a DVD release. You can find bits of it on youtube but I don't think you can get the entire series legitimately.

yeah i saw his address etc from his sites whois data when it was on ehre, LOL at someone finding his CV though.

Shocking that the guy is a teacher though.

Especially after his thread about possibly knocking up some jap lass and trying to dodge responsibility.

Wonder how long before they email/call whatever school he end sup in.

Still makes you wonder why he's so worried about the census when he's spread all his information over the internet :p

Been backpacking around Asia this summer and stayed in Japan for about 3 weeks.

Kyoto is full of temples and foreigners. I think its really over-rated (in hindsight). Once you seen two temples, you really seen them all. There are far more epic places in Japan, I prefer these two far far more, they are in Kansai region (Osaka).

Tottori sand dunes
Stairway to Heaven
Also Okinawa only stayed in Naha

As for Tokyo... It was good, but Akihabara was crap unless you are into proper electrical diy. Rest were interesting, although to be honest everyone travels differently, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Personally I do want to come back to Japan to see Hokkaido at some time later. Anyway I got a team meeting in a minute, but will post more after, if you got any questions.
