how do :)

I have ~£250 to spend on a new pc, not including monitor and mouse.
Granted, it's not much cash, but she won't be playing Crysis or anything.
General use, but with longevity in mind - I'm into my overclocking, so the E2140 is my best bet I reckon, need a gig of ram, and a cheap-o case - the rest of it, I'd like some ideas tho :)

Cheers!
Ian

How about...

EDIT: Without OS comes to around £220 incl. VAT ;)

looks good!
I don't *need* an OS - I'm fairly sure that ubuntu/pclos would be fine for my gf, but I guess a win system would probably be easiest.
Does the mobo on the barebones give any headroom for overclocking at all?

*edit* took a look at the barebones - the 250W PSU might hinder some what, but I'm sure we've got a few PSU's lying around I could swap it out with :)

thanks for the help guys!

Brave man  Or she's tech savvy? Hardware/software compatibility could be another issue, e.g. iPod/iTunes, etc :)

EDIT: If you choose to drop the OS, go for this barebone instead. The G965 chipset is better ;)

My iPod has always worked fine with Amarok :)
She not that tech *un*savvy, and tbh ubuntu/pclos can be quite user freindly once they've been set up. I'll take a look at the G965 - I asume both barebones come with GMA900 grfx? If so, I may fork over for a HD2400 or something - I find the GMA900 to be as usefull as a fish for even the slightest 3D.
