Over there...
Looking to take the lady away for her big 3-0

thinking either Dublin or Edinburgh for a city break, not been to either so appreciate feedback.

or any other ideas for days away? like adventure days or something a different/off the wall?

not her main present, so we can be a little bit out there - but not mega money, either ;)

so help a brother out (or ladies, offer appropriate suggestions)

Some to avoid: Spa days/health resorts etc - ideally something we can do together as well, but not essential.

TIA

thought about the London show idea, we live about 30mins away from the west-end tho, so maybe not enough of a break...? am considering it tho.

Devon cottage - not something i'd considered, sort of overlooked it for the busier city breaks... will investigate, cheers

LOL same as always, although somefield has now gone thats about it rofl oh and they've re-done the m69 roundabout much better now

When is her birthday? There's not a huge amount to see or do up here at the moment, Edinburgh really starts to thrive in the summer when it's warm and dry, also the festival really brightens the place up.

I think the cottage idea is really nice, although not necessarily Devon. There are some beautiful places in the north of Scotland, of course it's a bit of a trek! If you want some quiet time, then a cottage in the middle of nowhere sounds perfect. If you want to experience night life and see castles etc then of course, a city break would be much better.

I mearly suggested devon as an idea of course theres dorset, cornwall etc plenty of little places to get away to and not to far from london for him.

2 weeks time (left it a bit late!) mid may!

so Edinburgh is pretty quiet (and damp?!)

I'm perhaps being slightly bitter because it's raining and horrible at the moment, but the weather hasn't been amazing. A lot of the cool stuff to do here is outside - hanging out in the gardens, the zoo, the castle etc, so it's much nicer when the weather is better.

fair point (its pretty grotty here tbh...). maybe less reliant on the outdoors would be a good thing...

contemplated taking on some sort of weird day out instead - sort of like paintballing, but something she would actually enjoy (so not paintballing!) like ORB-ing or something... could go either way i suppose...

Edinburgh sounds good

bit of sightseeing, some shopping, meal in a nice restaurant and a bit of afters in a hotel room ;)

Was up there 2 weeks back and Edinburgh looks great when its overcast and wet

I'm thinking about going to a place near Ullapool next month, cabin, BBQ, beers, fishing.....you will love it....oh wait its for you AND your GF.

Edinburgh could be a winner, weather has been nice as of late. I'd consider ireland just because I've never been and it seems lovely, you actually have to cross water to get there so it seems more of a trek.

Women loves Chocolate - Bring her to the Cadbury Factory for a day (or even head to Belgium for a day, or Paris, or even Germany, all for the sake of Chocolate...)

From the kitchen to the bedroom :S oh dear oh dear....

go somewhere really remote so you can be alone together.
Or a break in Paris, Seville, Copenhagen or get a little cottage somewhere in the countryside for a week: Devon is nice.
