I think its fair to say Gow Changes pace in the story in chapers 3-5 from being a fairly average story to, well none what so ever.
I think there are two reasons for this:
1) Developers ran out of time and had to cut any "unfinished" levels out and put an ending in place
2) Play testing feedback
I'll address 1 first (may as well work in a logical order):
I think this game had probably been earmarked for the PS3 launch for some considerable time, since halo 3 was never going to be complete by then. So it is likely that there was more of a story and more levels in the design, however due to these time constraints Epic probably did not want to and "unfinished" content to the game, things like ropy FMV sceens, unballanced/incomplete levels, or anything that looked a bit rubbish.
Chapter 4 and especially chapter 5 were shorter (imo) than chapeters 1 and 2, & 3. They certianly had a lot less story in them too. I think that it was about this time that Epic started to panic, removed the majority of the "story" planned for this area, and focused on getting to a end for the game.
Now it might just be my perspective of the majority of games, but you usually fight the final boss twice (or at least in 2 incarnations) or have a strong under boss before the final boss level. This was not the case here, which is probably why the game felt "incomplete". Bezerkers were the level 1 boss and really felt like an average enemy after that point, and the nemises were more of an irritation than any thing else. So I do not class either of these "Battles" as a pre-final boss encounter.
With regards to point 2 I suspect that there was a boss battle at the end of Chaper 4 when you leave in the junker (or what ever vehicle it is) and are chased by that monster (no Idea what its called), However I suspect you were in the vehicle for that fight. As with a lot of people I thought the junker section of the game was **** to be blunt. I suspect that fighting a boss in a vehicle would have been even worse. So it could have been removed.
What do you guys reckon?
