any ideas folks

bt just put in a 100mb fibre circuit , according to them they have tested it and say fine.

My problem between the 2 sites

upstream - 80mb (random tests)

downstream - 4mb (random tests)

have tried all options swapping out cables / crossover / changing switches ./ direct link to bt les 100 box

all still the same results

any ideas

LES circuits can be funny about 'nailing' duplex settings.

They tend to work best when the speed and duplex settings are nailed to match the fibre transcievers output (which I can't remember now).

Encountered a LES10 circuit a while back that had similar issues.

For the price of that LES100 circuit, I'd be raising hell with my BT account manager for them to prove it is throughputting 100Mbit. They should be able to spare a Cisco boffin with some kit to help in this respect.

Out of interest, how ar eyou measuring your throughput and what switches have you got attached at either end?

Indeed, our LES10 had massive duplexing issues when we first had it installed.

I'd check on your procurve switch to see what mode they are running in too. What do you have attached at both ends? They both connected straight into the switches or do you have some sort of routing/proxying going on?

Plug a laptop directly into the BT box and test the speed via that first. Set to 100mb full duplex and test away. If the same try setting laptop to auto speed/duplex and see if that makes a difference.

If you still do not see a change then I'm afraid you will have to report back to BT. Depending on your location they should have someone out the same day to test.
