Speedo accuracy

From a speed camera, nothing (if ACPO guidelines are being followed by the local camera partnership). However a cop can still do you for <35 in a 30.

Its all to do with guaranteeing a conviction. The acpo guidlines are there "just incase" there may be a discrepancy in equipment

This is pretty much the main reason I bought a satnav. I now know an indicated 36 is really 30, indicated 47-48 is really 40, etc. My car is old and the speedo has apparently drifted well over the 10% over-read. Explains why I got tailgated so often when I thought I'd been driving at the limit. :p

Now I know that, I hardly ever use the satnav any more.

Funny thing is my A1 is the most accurate I have ever been in - 2mph more than gps sat nav at any speed. Especially compared to my old Mini which is at least 5-6mph off. :D

I wonder what will happen to speed limits if GPS based speedos start to be fitted as OEM on cars. At least all these doddering oap's may actually do 30

I think this would solve a lot of trouble. Especially on the motorway because you have two types of people. You have one that knows his speedo is not accurate and adjusts accordingly to reach 70mph and you have the other that has no clue and sits looking at the 70mph on his dash doing 63 mph. My speedo is out by about 7mph when doing 70 for example and on a NSL A road I will leave it at 65 mph indicated which equates to 60mph.

Mine over-reads by about 2-3mph at 30mph. There's an onboard digital speedo that you can get access to on the dash which seems to be a lot more accurate. Aint tried it with a Sat Nav though.
