I have a Speedtouch 330 modem like the one below

I visited a website (think it was bt) and it said if you have a speedtouch 330 you need to upgrade to a router.
I dont need/want a router, i have a main pc thats always on and there is a bridge connected from this pc which connects my xbox360 and the secondary pc.

Basically can this modem handle adsl max, would you recomend me getting a router or a new modem?

Cheers guys

ive clicked on the diagnostics of the modem and ive clicked on ATM tab,

i get transmit 832 kbps and receive 8128kpbs

Does this mean that this is the maximum the modem can perform at?

What does ATM mean? when i goto ADSL tab i get the transmit 288kbps and reveive 2272 kbps

I wouldn't recommend a USB modem for MAX DSL or anything above 2mbps.

I got one of these, Bulldog give them for free but i use my router instead.

Look for a ethernet modem or a nice router :).

More like what it guesses your line can do.

What does ATM mean?

Asynchronous Transfer Mode.

Basically it's not a good idea to use it, they're pretty crappy with Max, and the ISPs are swapping them out with good reason...
