ello,

I have a Speedtouch 510 router with firmware 4.2.7. There is a new firmware (4.3.2) with lots of new features. Should I use it? Any of you guys tried it? And finally, what settings do I need to make a note of because the new firmware will lose my current settings
Thanks

I upgraded my Speedtouch 580 to the new firmware, and I have to say I prefer it. You can now do port forwarding rules by the computer name, so you don't have to worry about IP addressing anymore. It will also update DynDns for you. It's got an uptime from September now (when I upgraded it) so there's definately no issues with stability.

well after reading here i though cool new firmware and upgraded without thinking about it as all the other upgrades were fine and restored my old configs.........
well how wrong was i totally moosed my whole setup up :(
it wont load my old config backups and have resorted to a basic setup as my freind had set mine up in jan 2004 the new interface is totally new and im quite bamboozled by it.
seems to be a more new user friendly thing but im lost at sea how to set my netwroks back up and am awaiting my mate to come and fix it as network stuff fries my brain.
default ip is now 192.168.1.254 although i manged to make go back to 10.0.0.138 and i now only have 2 green lights instead of 3 as the ethernet/network is down.
had reset it to defaults a few times now whilst trying to force an old backup but have left it alone now as im not sure what im doing :(.
whilst it connects to net i can wait for assistance

now looks like this

I downloaded the new user guide and it does look a lot more complicated to setup and configure the router. The game and application section went right over my head with port ranges and triggers. I wont update unless you guys can help me configure it.

Caged, How would I configure the router for a program like bittorrent, and do the PCs still need static IP addresses for port forwarding to work?
Thanks

Bittorrent is already pre configured bud as are various bittorrent programs still not sure what to do with making new profiles though.

Can you run a program on more than 1 pc at the same time? Also, is the info below all I need to connect the router to the net?

Connection Protocol: PPPoA
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
Username: Password

over my head that stuff mickey as i said im garbage with networks, although i manged to get it connected with just my user name and password with the autosetup
