Spilt water in desktop PC.

I spilty some water in my desktop PC. I'm stripping it down to dry it off with a towel, and some parts are wetter than others but it wasn't much water really.

Everything is bone dry now, is everything still likely to work?

Was the pc off at the time yeah? I would leave it in an airing cupboard for a while as well.

Personally I'd leave it for a few days somewhere warm. All it takes is for you to miss a little drop and -whammo- dead motherboard/gpu/ram.

use a blow drier in the small areas to amke sure theres absolutely no water.
even a small will cause shorts

was the pc on when you did it?

when did you do it?

i'd suggest leaving the parts in an airing cupboard for a day or so to properly dry them out

my dog pushed a motherboard/cpu/ram into a sink of water before, and it was submerged for about 30 seconds

dried it out for 3 weeks, and the pc still works fine now. this was around 4/5 years ago

don't do this..

hoovers/hair driers have been known to cause problems in computers

As others have suggested leave it for a couple of days to be sure of completely drying out.

If it was just plain water you might be ok however if it was cordial it's less likely.

ok, so you say 'in the small areas, from a distance'

airing cupboard is the safest bet mate

gradually heating up the whole item at the same time, instead of getting a lot of heat in one small area

Second time ive seen this suggested in a week. Seems a really bad idea to me.

When I had finished building my little bros PC I took it into his room and set it up, literally the second I turned it on he came rushing in and spilt a pint of milk all over the desk - which has a gap down the middle. The milk went straight through the gap and onto the PC, luckily I grabbed it, tipped it to one side so all intakes were leaning away from the components and yanked it out from under there (was still down on my knees lol). He panicked and hasnt had a drink on his desk since lol.

Stick it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days (if you have one).
