Well I finally took the plunge about a week ago and finished with my other half of 18 months. She'd become a bit lazy, had quit her job and was sitting around at home watching TV and doing sod all while I was at work.

Add to that she was shopping online, got store cards and ran up huge bills which I had to bail her out of to avoid court appearances :( Also found out that she had got hold of fertility supplements and was taking them without my knowledge

Really struggling at the moment but trying to convince myself I did the right thing. Talk about misery. It seems that even when someone is blatantly taking the pee out of you, it's obscured by your feelings. I just figured that seeing as I need to buy a house, save for a better car and pay the bills, it was the best way to go.

The fact that she's found someone else within a period of two weeks also says something.

On the plus side - I have a "bang buddy" (EDIT: not her.. an offer from a female friend) when the need arises but it's a bit weird :)

Just thought I'd add to the never ending pile of trashy relationship threads on here to get it off my chest! Sorry!

Just keep re-reading what YOU wrote about her and then you'll see why it was the right thing to do.

Good on you. Nice to see some men can stnd up for themselves. As for me... *wchiiihhhh* (whipping nioise) hehe, though she's no where near as bad, in fact she's not like that at all.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder I guess. It's always a crap feeling when you split with someone and I wonder why it never gets easier with experience :)

yes good move I've been there working all day whilst she stayed at home spending my money and arranging to meet her (now BF)

Was class when i called her bluff , enjoyed it.

Solari - "Ive split with my GF"

Woman - "Well you can come nail me anytime!"

Wish I could have seen the look on your face!

LOL.. the lass in question has been a friend of mine for a long time so I was taken aback. Not sure whether it's best to avoid women altogether for a while to allow me to sort stuff out. Still... beats mother palm and her five daughters if the need arises!

Good on you I say ...I feel sorry for the new BF already though as I assume he'll be in the same situation as you were very soon !

I did text her, saying "Pass my wishes for luck on to the guy, he'll need it" :D Bit childish but I'm sure the novelty will wear off as I know he's not got enough money to keep her living in the standard she was at before :)
