Apologies if this has been asked before i tried search but got no definitive answers.

I have recently purchased myself a new 500Gb drive to be used as storage. I plan on reformatting my 320Gb and using it for OS and programs only with the 500Gb for everything else.

Question is this. Is there any way of telling Vista during the install process to place things like My documents, My downloads etc on the second drive instead of the primary drive. Or is there a way to change the default drive path after installing windows so that i dont need to set up each program seperately to save to my storage drive and windows can just point them there automatically?

From the start menu, if you click on your user name it'll bring up all the folders like Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures etc

If you right click on them and go to properties, you can set location on one of the tabs :)

for some reason on my media centre box, my 'Videos' icon has gone from the folder, anyone know how to restore it, I set the location too all my folders to D:\folderName, but the Videos one messed up, the link works fine, but icon isn't there..

Thanks for the replies folks :)

Got everything sorted now and all the links point to my storage drive. Still store the user profiles on my windows drive but all the files will be stored on my storage drive.

Hopefully things wont grind to a halt now when i managed to fill my documents with crap (pron):D
