Spoiler tags

Yeah, that's all very well but having 90% of posts within a thread having spoiler tags in would drive me nuts... Which threads would as most discussion after a programme has aired is about that program...

All you'd have left is the "can't wait to watch the show later" posts...

Indeed, but people aren't going to stop going out of their way to watch shows before they're aired in the UK.

I think a better option would be to allow for two threads, one for spoilers for those that can't wait and one for those who can.

Seen it work in other forums.

But then the other thread would turn into one as well, otherwise you might as well google for a synopsis on the series.

nobody is asking people not to watch shows before they are aired, just not to talk about them.

Which you would think isn't a difficult thing to ask, but then it does rob some people of the ego boost of showing that they've seen the episodes and others haven't yet, and you know how much people on the internet like to brag and make out that they're more than they are :)

even when people add big spoiler tags you still see certain words as you scan the post before reading it and that can be enough to ruin something.

But we are not allowed to talk about the content of shows that haven't aired and as someone already mentioned that isn't going to change with the introduction of spoiler tags.

Didn't this all start (again) because someone didn't want to know what was happening to a show, even after it had been aired?

Any discussion about a show that is not yet aired in the UK is deleted/locked (see various Spartacus threads for one). It's totally different to someone not wanting to know what is happening in an already UK aired show, just stay out.

Spoiler tags yes please. They're convenient and will stop so many stupid arguments and misunderstandings over the content is threads.

Also the ability to hide massive walls of text and images as mentioned is a plus point. Theres everything to gain and nothing to loose by adding them.

I just think a better way to solve this problem would be to have threads about shows but just not let people discuss the shows, that would solve the problem.

I think I've asked for these at least three times in the past.

Having the idea of adding "***SPOILERS***" in the title of a thread may work in some instances but where you have long ongoing treads, like the anime one, we could really do with a proper way of hiding in-line spoilers.
